outh Africa celebrated Freedom Day yesterday. This annual public holiday honours the country’s first democratic elections. 19,726,579 votes were cast between Tuesday, 26 April 1994 and Thursday, 28 April 1994.

Johannesburg’s urban forest is flourishing. The summer rainfall has injected even more life into the city’s lung; a green belt that breathes beauty into Jozi. It doesn’t yet extend across the entire city. Far more needs to be done to increase the notches of the green belt into townships like Soweto and Alexandra.

Life after the World Cup

It has been three months since Spain lifted the World Cup trophy at Soccer City in Johannesburg. I will never forget the blasting of the vuvuzela horns (my ears are still ringing) and the excitement on the streets of Jozi during the month long soccer party.

World Cup fever hits South Africa

It is finally here. The day South Africa puts on the biggest show ever to hit the African continent. I didn’t need an alarm clock to get out of bed on this chilly Jo’burg morning. I awoke to the sounds of Vuvuzelas trumpeting triumphantly, edging on the South African team.
